I am a Harvard grad (class of '02) and professional GRE tutor with 15 years of experience.
When preparing for the GRE using popular books from Kap., Manhattan GRE, Princeton Review, etc, it is important to remember that only official questions from ETS are authentic GRE questions--all other sources of questions are simply imitations of the actual GRE.
These are the only sources of real GRE questions at the moment:
2) The paper-based PDFs (old and new), which overlap heavily with the PowerPrep software but have about 60 unique questions (see answer keys for more info).
3) The GRE Official Guides a.k.a. "Super Power Pack" (Main Guide, Verbal Practice Questions, Quant Practice Questions)
That's it! It adds up to about 1,320 official questions total.
That being said, you will need other GRE learning, strategy, and vocabulary books to supplement your studies, as the OGs (and the two PowerPrep CATs) are not sufficient for a full preparation. Books and CATs from Manhattan GRE, Cliff's Notes and Barron's are among the best out there at the moment. I've also heard good things about the Magoosh online self-study programs and CATs (computer adaptive tests), as well as the GRE Prep Club tests.
However, the fact remains: to get a precise feel for the conventions, wording, intricacies, nuances, idiosyncrasies, and subject matter of real GRE questions, nothing beats the real thing.
