GIVEN: 12 is x percent of 60
We can write: x % of 60 = 12
In other words: (x/100)(60) = 12
Simplify: 60x/100 = 12
Simplify: 6x/10 = 12
Simplify: 3x/5 = 12
Multiply both sides by 5 to get: 3x = 60
Solve: x = 20
What is 30 percent of x?
30% of x = 0.3x = 0.3(20) = 6
Answer: A
