p(a) > 0

p(a) = 2*p(b)
suppose p(b) = x, then p(a) = 2x

p(a or b) = 8*(a and b)

they're independent events since they can occur together

so, (assuming a = p(a) and so on)

p(a or b) = a + b - both
p(a and b) / both = a*b

then

a + b - both = 8 (both)

both = a*b = 2x * x = 2x^2

so

2x + x - 2x^2 = 8(2x^2)

= 3x-2x^2 = 16x^2

=3x = 18x^2

3 = 18x

x = 3 / 18 = 1/6 = p(b)

p(a) = 2x = 2/6 = 1/3 which is D
