It seems like the top right vertex of square lies at the center of the circle so radius of circle = side length of square = x
=> Area of Circle = \(pi*x^2\)
The top and right side of the square make 90 degrees angle with each other which is 1/4th of the round circle angle of 360 degrees.
=> Area of shaded region = Area of Sector = \((90/360)*pi*x^2 = (pi*x^2)/4\)
Since side of a square cannot be negative or zero so dividing both quantities by (x^2)/4 we get
as pi = 3.14 => Quantity A > Quantity B
=> Area of Circle = \(pi*x^2\)

I understand what you are saying ...my point is no where it is mentioned that one of the edge of the square is the centre of the circle....we can't make assumptions right?
This the reason why i think that answer should be D.
