Re: Of the 300 subjects who participated in an experiment using [#permalink]
Sweat p. - 120 members
Vomit - 90
Diz. - 225
both cases - 105

formula: Total = Sweat. + Vomit. + Diz. - both effects - 3* three effects + 1* three effects , hence from there I obtained three effects number and it's equals to 15 members

300 = 120+90+225 - 105 - 2* three cases
Subjects with three cases = 15

now I just substract 105+15 from 300, hence=300-120=180 is the answer.

Why is it 3*three effects + 1*three effects?

- 3* three effects + 1* three effect?

Can someone explain this equation.

a+b+c - (2 problems + all 3 problems + only one problem)

We know that all 300 subjects had at least one problem.

n(AuBuC) = n(A)+n(B)+ n(C)-n(AnB)-n(Anc)-n(BnC)+n(AnBnC) : this is the general formula
Since n(AnB)+ n(Anc)+ n(BnC) = strictly effects of two + 3* effects of threee= Strictly both effects +3*effects of three
n(AuBuC) = n(A)+n(B)+ n(C)-Strictly both effects-3*n(AnBnC)+n(AnBnC)
