Hmmm not sure what's going on here.
Here's what I got:
g1 = ?
g2 = 2g1 + 1
g3 = 4g1 + 3
g4 = 8g1 + 7
g1 + g4 = 9g1 + 7
9g1+ 7 = 30.5 = 61/2
9g1 = 47/2
g1 = 47/18
What'd I do wrong?
Here's what I got:
g1 = ?
g2 = 2g1 + 1

g1 + g4 = 9g1 + 7
9g1+ 7 = 30.5 = 61/2
9g1 = 47/2
g1 = 47/18

i also got 47/18. working back from the supposed answer, the addition of the two terms doesn't also add up to 30.5. My conclusion therefore, is that either a vital information is missing, or the question is wrong.
