In this first part of the test, The level of difficulty is pretty low, just 1.25 on average, but the time management is high. The time spent is way too much.

I do not know this portion of the test where is located if it is at the very end of the test or before. However, I do think the student had fatigue and tiredness: almost 3 minutes for an easy question is self-explanatory

Outline:

1) Four right and three wrong questions

Here we do have all the questions but one very easy. Not a clear strategy emerged from this split above: one right in less than a minute and one wrong spending over two minutes.
One is good but one is bad. One reason could be if they refer to the same passage not a clear relationship among the different parts of the same is framed by the student.

Here we do have once again conflict results: do notice the second and the third question, they do have the same level of difficulty, similar time but one is right and one is wrong. This could back up the consideration I made in the first Verbal Section about the difficulty by the student to apply or implement a flexible strategy depending on the question in front of him.

Not a bespoke strategy for this type of questions even though he demonstrates how he does know how to read the question and some good vocabulary knowledge but when the questions get tougher he does not know how to manage them (see the first verbal section SE).

Take away

The student ended up to get an easy verbal section as the second portion of the test with 11 questions right. That means the score should be the follow

First Verbal Section + Second Verbal section = \(6+11=17\)

The base score is \(130 + 17 = 147\)

However, he got only V 143.

147-143=4

This four is a fist in his mouth. This is the way the ETS algorithm works: if you get a medium or hard second section, in the end, ETS rewards you with 2 or 3 points of bonus plus your real score.

However, if you take an easy section ETS punishes you with some point of penalty. Usually, these points are 2 or 3 but here the GRE devoured his score with a HUGE penalty of 4 points on a scale.

The second section is on the easy side because only 6 questions went good in the first quant section.

1) 2.00 level of difficulty on average.
2) 13 questions correct.

Overall, the most interesting thing is how the algorithm works: usually, when you get the second section easy ETS does not reward you with some extra bonus point. On the contrary, it gives you a penalty. However, this is not the case.

The student should have had 149 as quant score instead he received 151. Two points more.

Probably it is due to the fact he is the geometry portion of the quant section (see the screen above) he nailed 4 questions in a row and all of an increasing level - from 1 to 4. This is good news in a sea of madness. I do think the test rewarded the student for this mini-performance. This is a demonstration of how this algorithm is sophisticated and why the prep-companies fail all the way around to mimic. Negative side the time spent: a crazy minutage of more than five minutes. :shock:

Guys, I suggest you study in-depth this analysis. You could have a lot of benefits from it. Sometimes is better to stop and reflect which direction is better to take ahead instead to practice millions of questions but ending up in the middle of nowhere.

It is probable that you will get more probability questions than the statistical average. How probable is that? :lol:

Is there a way to figure out the question difficulty levels in the GRE Prep exams? It only gives you whether it is correct or wrong.

No.

Unfortunately, you cannot say in any way if the question is easy or hard. You can only trust your feeling.

However, your GOAL is to reply to it as much as your ability and skills can.

I.E. you do not have to think NEVER if it is easy or hard. your only concern is to reply correctly to them and as fast as you can.

Found this golden treasure today, it's interesting to me that even if you screw up your Q SE 1, you can still get bonus points

The bonus is ONLy if you have as second section or medium or hard

If you get easy because you scored quite poorly in the first one you will have a penalty

The bonus .....it depends I guess on the level of the questions you nailed correctly
