A) There are two bell shaped curve and normal distribution has a single bell shaped curve hence False
B)Though avg salary for two groups could be distributed normally they are not centered around the same mean or else the two bell shaped curve would occur at the same place hence False
C) The graph does show two bell shaped curve so it could be the case that there are two groups of different number of people each normally distributed
D)The graph shows that there might be two types of data that is normally distributed but if it is a case of a single set of data then the graph is not normally distributed and more importantly we do not know what is the mean so we cannot make assumptions about where the data is skewed hence False
E)Though the option mentions that two set of data are normally distributed, the smaller data set rather will have a higher mean than the large set of data hence False

From POE C is the best option.

shouldn't the answer be 'E'. Can you please explain clearly why isn't it 'E' again ?

Which of the following would the data pattern shown above best describe?

(A) The number of grams of sugar in a selection of drinks is normally distributed.
(B) A number of male high school principals and a larger number of female high school principals have normally distributed salaries, distributed around the same mean.
(C) A number of students have normally distributed heights and a smaller number of taller, adult teachers also have normally distributed heights.
(D) The salary distribution for biologists skews to the left of the median.
(E) The maximum-weight bench presses for a number of male athletes are normally distributed and the maximum-weight bench presses for a smaller number of female athletes are also normally distributed, although around a smaller mean.

The correct answer is C.
On the x-axis we have heights, and on the y-axis we have frequency.
So, the larger bump on the left represents more people then the smaller bump on the right represents.
Also, the people represented in the larger bump are shorter then the people represented in the smaller bump.

All of this satisfies the information in answer choice C.

Here's why E doesn't work....
For E to work, the x-axis would represent bench press weights, and the y-axis would represent frequency.
Since the bump on the right is smaller, it must represent the females, since they have the smaller population.
However, since the smaller bump (representing females) is further to the RIGHT, this means the females are lifting MORE than the males (which contradicts the fact that the female athletes have a smaller mean.

Adding to what other people have commented.
This is what is called a bimodal distribution.
This happens when a certain significant section of a population displays a characteristic at a certain level, and the remaining significant section of the population displays that characteristic at a different level.

For example say the world was composed solely of hobbits and basketball players. We would see a bimodal distribution of heights where one chunk would be normally distributed with a higher mean and the other section would be distributed normally at a lower mean.

Even though I am not sure you will have a question that in the answer choices will have that wording but instead numbers.

For the rest, I believe it is a legit question.
