Area of shaded region = Area of entire triangle - Area of small white triangle
= 1/2 (9)(6) - 1/2 (2)(6) = 1/2 (7)(6) = 7 * 3 = 21

Step 1: Understanding the question
Area of the triangle ABD is 1/2 * base of the triangle* height of the triangle
Step 2: Calculation
base of the triangle = AB = 7
Height of the triangle = CD = 6
hence, area of the shaded region = 1/2 * 7 * 6 = 21
