A=TBhis is a nice question.
Basically QA is asking you: what percent of the combined mixture which is 23% iodine overall is A.
In other words, of the new mixture what % is made by the iodine labeled as A
This question could be solved quickly using weighted average
\(32A+17B=23(A+B)\)
After manipulation we do have
\(9A=6B\)
This means that the ration \(\frac{B}{A}=\frac{3}{2}\) or \(\frac{A}{B}=\frac{2}{3}\)
So in the solution A represents 2 parts and B 3 parts AND overall all parts add up to 5
So the ratio \(\frac{A}{Overall} = \frac{2}{5} = 40\)%
So quantity A is 40% and B is 38%
\(A > B\)
The answer to this question is A
