We tend to avoid plugging 0 in questions unless it is very clear that 0 is one of the possible solutions.
We absolutely avoid plugging 0 on both sides of an '=' sign.

This is because when you multiply both sides of any expression with zero the equality will always hold.

Say 300 = 500 is incorrect! But \(300 \times 0 = 500 \times 0\) is correct!

So even in this question if you plug 0 make sure it doesnot have an impact on both sides of the equation

Alright, got it. Thanks. BTW how come option B isn't an answer when it's the exact same expression as in the question?

Sorry, you made some mistakes. 300=500 is not an equation; but, in 300x=500y, actually x,y=0 could be an answer for the equation. Another thing, how could you use w=z=0 for C, but we cannot use zero for other choices. Clearly, this is a wrong, useless and non-standard question. The irony is for the choice B. It is the question itself, but in the answer sheet it could not be the answer:))

"could be true" implies does there exist a condition where the statement could be true, not is the situation always going to be true. Therefore using all 0's is certainly permissible and the question should be revised
