as the length of sides are 2 and 1 unit of bigger and smaller respectively.
the point where the bigger side and the smaller side of two squares meet forms a 90-degree angle, which implies the triangle that is formed by the sides of squares and another side is a right-angle triangle. therefore, 2 and 1 are the length of height and base of the right triangle.
thus the area of the tringle is 1/2*1*2=1 (B is the answer)
