Being in a ratio of 2:3:5=10 means that the true value of the ribbon can be any multiple of the numbers 2,3, & 5.
For example, you can multiply each term by 4 resulting in
2(x):3(x):5(x)=10(x)
2(4):3(4):5(4)=10(4)
8 : 12 : 20 = 40
In this case the total length of the ribbon is 40.
Seeing that 10 is the total in the given ratio Multiplying 10 by 4 to get 40 is the key. Multiply each term in the given ration by 4 and you will arrive at 20 as the longest part of the ribbon.
