Since she spent 75 seconds to do ALL the exercise test and rested a total of 55 seconds, the ratio of the time she took for ALL exercises is 75:55, which can be simplified to 15:11.

Assuming she spent the same amount of time per exercise and looking at the options, the only possible combination is if she took 3 test, each of them consuming a ratio of 5:11 of the total time spent for ALL the sets. Note the bottom part of the ratio is still 11 since we want the time she took per exercise, divided by the TOTAL amount of rest time.

So the answer is B.

PD: Since you are a new joiner, I would recommend you to look for exercises posted a long time ago, since they always have answers and you don´t have to wait for somebody to give an explanation, they are already there.

Hi,

Thank you for sharing, I am trying to learn how to interpret what is really asked in this questions.
I would like to understand how you could interpret context of "ALL" from this question. Could you please share?
This question says that "Diane completed "EACH" of her exercise sets in 75 seconds, and rested for 55 seconds BETWEEN the exercise sets, so it seems to be

Number of exercise sets : A
rest between exercise sets : A-1 , A >=2

The ratio of the amount of time it took her to complete AN exercise set to the amount of time she rested between the sets?

75 : 55 x (A-1)
15: 11 x (A-1)

If I see the answer options, left item should be either of 1,3,5,15, so answer options will be A) or B).
If I put 2,3,4 to A, the ratio will be

In case A is 2 , 15: 11 x (A-1) = 15:11 x 1 = 15:11
In case A is 3 , 15: 11 x (A-1) = 15:11 x 2 = 15:22 -> At this point we can eliminate A) from answer.
In case A is 4 , 15: 11 x (A-1) = 15:11 x 3 = 15:33 =5:11

So answer is B:

This is how I interpret this question but do I miss something ?

The ratio of the amount of time it took her to complete an exercise set to the amount of time she rested between the sets can be expressed in below.

In case A is 3 , 15: 11 x (A-1) = 15:11 x 2 = 15:22 -> At this point we can eliminate A) from answer.
In case A is 4 , 15: 11 x (A-1) = 15:11 x 3 = 15:33 =5:11

So answer is B:

I still did not get. what is A-1? why are we even calculating that when the perfect ratio is 15:11?

Hi AjanthaJ,

I may be wrong as I am neither an expert nor native English speaker.
As far as I understand this question,

Quote:
What is the ratio of the amount of time it took her to complete an exercise set to the amount of time she rested between the sets?

We should compare

A) "The amount of time it took her to complete "AN" exercise set"
to
B) "the amount of time she rested between the sets."

If I understand this question correctly A) is simply 75 seconds.
For B), I think it asks sum of time among rests. (Again, I may be wrong.)

For example :
Case 1) 3 exercises : A=3, number of exercises, A-1=2, number of rests.
E1 , R1, E2, R2, E3

Case 2) 2 exercises : A=2, number of exercises, A-1=1, number of rests.
E1 , R1, E2

Above is the background how I calculated, but not sure to be honest.
Hope this helps.

Best,
Gocha

Its just the Word Play;
Diane completed each of her exercise sets in 75 seconds: means she completed all sets in 75 seconds

If you get this, then all you need is to divide 75 by Resting time
75/55 , 75/110, 75/165, 75/220, ......
15/11, 15/22, 5/11, 15/44, ......

We have a match: 5/11
Hence, Option B
