Innovation would be the exact opposite of what is needed in the sentence. The matter is revolving around the trustworthiness and originality of the manuscripts.

Third blank is authoritative because -- if publishers are not careful while scrutinising truly authoritative texts, then there could be a possibility the words could be misprinted and misinterpreted and that would be not serve the purpose.
