There are two ways of solving the problem

Method 1: Substitution
\((y-4)^2>0\)
For this to be true y-4 should be non-zero
=> y can be greater than 4 or can be less than 4 also
If y >4 then y-4 will be positive and \((y-4)^2>0\) will be true
If y < 4 then y-4 will be negative and \((y-4)^2>0\) will be true
So, Quantity A (y) can be greater than or less than quantity B (4)
So, answer will be D


Method 2: Algebra
This question is based on inequalities and absolute value
\((y-4)^2>0\)
Taking square root on both the sides we get
|y-4| > 0
=> y > 4 or y < -4

Quantity A i.e y can be > 4 or <-4
Quantity B is 4

So, answer will be D as y can be greater than 4 or can be less than 4 also
