Re: Two stations A and B are 100 km apart on a straight line. One train [#permalink]
OA Explanation:

Speed of Train starting from A = 20 kmph
Speed of Train starting from A = 25 kmph

Since, the second train starts 1 hour later, First train must have covered 20 km in that time.
Which means, the distance between the two trains at 8:00 AM is 90 km

Apply the concept of Relative Velocity;

\(t = \frac{90}{(20+25)} = 2\) hours

Therefore, they meet at 10:00 AM

Hence, option C

9:30 AM?
Since total is 100 Km and A started early so minus 20 Km.
Now A and B travel 80Km towards each other, so total speed = (20+25)kmh
Time =Distance/Speed = 80/55 = 1.45 = 1 hour 27 min
Time they meet = 8AM + 1 hr 27min = 9:30 AM approx

sprincej

Time =Distance/Speed = 80/55 = 1.45 = 1 hour 27 min

The relative speed would be 45 kmph!
