Now let's examine the triangle created by the points (3, 6), (3, -2) and (0, 0)

If we let the BASE of the triangle be the side with endpoints (3, 6) and (3, -2), then the length of the base = 6 - (-2) = 8

This means the HEIGHT of the triangle must be 3, since the origin (0, 0) is a distance of 3 units away from the side with endpoints (3, 6) and (3, -2).

Area of triangle = (1/2)(base)(height)
= (1/2)(8)(3)
= 12

Answer: C
