Pipe A fills the tank in 3 hrs
With leak, it takes 45 mins more so total time = 3\(\frac{3}{4}\)hrs = \(\frac{15}{4}\) hrs
Let's take the time it needs to empty the full tank = \(x\) hrs (when pipe A is shut)
\(\frac{1}{3}\) - \(\frac{1}{x}\) = \(\frac{4}{15}\)
\(\frac{1}{3}\) - \(\frac{4}{15}\) = \(\frac{1}{x}\)
x = 15 hrs
Qt A > Qt B
Answer A
With leak, it takes 45 mins more so total time = 3\(\frac{3}{4}\)hrs = \(\frac{15}{4}\) hrs
Let's take the time it needs to empty the full tank = \(x\) hrs (when pipe A is shut)

Explanation:
If A can do a job in \(X\) hours, while B can do it in \(Y\) hours, then they can both finish the job (working together) in \(\frac{XY}{(X+Y)}\)
Here,
Let the time required to empty the tank be X hours
\(3 + \frac{45}{60} = \frac{3X}{(X+3)}\)
\((3.75)(X+3) = 3X\)
\(3.75X + 11.25 = 3X\)
\(X = \frac{-11.25}{0.75} =-15\) hours
[-ve sign indicated that the work done is opposite - i.e. opposite to filling the tank]
Col. A: \(15\)
Col. B: \(12\)
Hence, option A
