Solution:
Substitute values which are less than, greater than and equal to 1
Suppose: 0.9, 1, 1.2
0.9: \(\frac{0.9}{-0.1}\)=-0.9<0-----OUT
1: \(\frac{1}{0}\)= Not defined-----OUT
1.2: \(\frac{1.2}{0.2}\)=6-----Works
We can try solving some other values greater than 1. Only value greater than 1 satisfies the given condition.

to hold the 2nd condition both the numerator and denominator should be either positive
or negative.
and as y>0 (positive) then y-1 must be positive
i.e. y-1>0
which implies , y>1 (A is the answer)
or negative.
and as y>0 (positive) then y-1 must be positive
i.e. y-1>0
which implies , y>1 (A is the answer)
