Although is the key here. Since all the options are in positive tone, we need a word with negative tone. Obloquy, which means state of disgrace, fits here p.s recompense is out of scope

Why can't we put all the sentence in a positive way, like although in the first world war...., in the second world war he recieve even more "a positive word"?

We are not given any indication for the word 'even more' as you suggested. And even if it was given, we will have A B C D as the answers. Sometimes, options give us hint, too.
