We should use the quadratic formula.
x= \(\frac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}\)
the discriminant is \(b^2-4ac\)
so it would be best if you calculated each answer choice, and when negative, we do not have solutions
The first one, for instance, the first one
\(x^2+8x+17=0\)
It will be \(8^2-4*1*17=-4\)
A has no solution and therefore is the right answer
