I was stuck between (D) and (E). I finally chose (D). Can you please explain why (E) is the correct answer?

You have to take control over the question, do not permit that it does take control over you and leads in the wrong direction.
Actually, the question says: who goes to the private school that is more likely goes to the college. Maybe because the students receive a better education
Who goes to public school the rate is much lower. So the impact on the students' future is bigger in private schools than public ones.
Now, this is NOT true or is weakened by the fact that in the rural area most of the 30% or so choose farming occupation. A such, the statement that who goes private because is better is not true.
It is not a question of being dumb in public school and smarter in the private but is a choice. This weakens the argument.
D talks about sports and other activities and blah blah.it is out of scope.
