The second blank has to be a negative word because it should be consistent with frail, so bereft is the best choice. The next clause begins with "she still has", so it tells me that something positive should follow. Hence, the force to stun makes sense. The first blank now is very easy to fill, because it should also be a negative word that is used to describe her work, so querulous is the best option. Prosaic is more like a neutral word, plus the next sentence says that her prose from earlier novels is gone. Hence, the correct choices are B, D, H.
