\(50\)-foot rope - two parts
The longer part is \(50\)% more than shorter ones.
Take shorter one = \(2x\) , longer one = \(3x\)
By solving, we will get \(x = 10\)
Length of longer piece = \(30\)-foot

Let the length of the short one be a.
Then the length of the longer piece would be (1.5)a.
Adding them both we get 2.5a=50
Solving for 1.5a we get length of the longer piece is 30.
Then the length of the longer piece would be (1.5)a.
