If f(x) = 2x^2 4 and g(x) = 2x, for what values of x will f(x) = g [#permalink]

\(f(x) = 2x^2 -4\)
\(g(x) = 2x\)

if \(f(x) = g(x)\), then

\(2x^2-4 = 2x\)

\(2x^2- 2x -4 = 0\)

dividing throughout by \(2\), we get

\(x^2 - x -2 = 0\)

\(x^2 -2x +x -2 = 0\)

\(x(x-2) +1(x-2) = 0\)

\((x+1)(x-2) = 0\)

For \(x = -1\) and \(x = 2\), \(f(x)=g(x)\).

The answer is Choice B.
