Sixty-eight people are sitting in 20 cars and each car contains at most 4 people and we need to find the maximum possible number of cars that could contain exactly 1 of the 68 people
Let x car have 1 person and 20-x cars have 4 people
So, x*1 + (20-x) *4 = 68
=> x + 80 - 4x = 68
=> 80-3x = 68
=> 3x = 80-68 = 12
=> x = \(\frac{12}{3}\) = 4
So, 4 cars can have 1 person each and 16 cars can have 4 people each making total number of people as 4*1 + 16*4 = 68
So, Answer will be C
Hope it helps!
