If we examine what's happening in 1955 with regard to population per television...
...we see that there are approximately 13 people per 1 TV.
So, the ratio is 1 to 13

Let's check the number of televisions line for each year....
In 1940, there were about 20 televisions, and in 1955, there were about 90 televisions.
Percent increase = 100(new - old)/old
= 100(90 - 20)/20
= 100(70)/20
= 100(3.5)
= 350
=
