Given: ONE pill has 400 milligrams of magnesium
Let's use equivalent ratios to convert milligrams to grams.
Let's use the ratio milligrams/grams
So, 1000/1 = 400/x (where x = grams of magnesium in ONE pill)
Cross multiply to get: 1000x = 400
Divide both sides by 1000 to get: x = 400/1000 = 4/10 = 0.4
So, ONE pill has 0.4 GRAMS of magnesium
So, 500 pills will have (500)(0.4) GRAMS of magnesium
Evaluate to see that 500 pills will have 200 GRAMS of magnesium
