Emblematic of the slaughter of the First World War, 60,000 [#permalink]
1
The conjunction "and" in

literally consumed into a stew of blood and _________.

demands a word similar to blood in the blank.

gore = blood that has been shed, especially as a result of violence.
carnage = the killing of a large number of people. But, it also reminds us of flesh and indeed it has the same root as the word "carnal".

The correct choices are B and E, gore and carnage.

stew of blood =boiling blood or to be rage, right?

No.

stew = a dish of meat and vegetables cooked slowly in liquid in a closed dish or pan.

In this context, it refers to something resembling a stew. It was like all the flesh and blood appeared to be cooked slowly in the battlefield - the pieces of flesh soaked in blood must have resembled a stew.
