M=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
Plug in values
-4=(8-4)/(-2-x)
Solving above yields
x=-1

A line with slope -4 passes through points A(x,4) and B (-2,8)
Let the line eqn be y=-4x+c
putting Point A in eqn as it lies on line must satisfy eqn: 4=-4x+c --(1)
putting Point B in eqn as it lies on line must satisfy eqn: 8=8+c=>c=0
thus eqn(2) becomes -4x+0=4=> x=-1
Let the line eqn be y=-4x+c
putting Point A in eqn as it lies on line must satisfy eqn: 4=-4x+c --(1)
putting Point B in eqn as it lies on line must satisfy eqn: 8=8+c=>c=0
thus eqn(2) becomes -4x+0=4=> x=-1
