How do movies or TV influence people’s behavior?
Use reasons and specific examples to support your answer.
Movies and TV are great sources of entertainment and they influence people's behaviour based on the type of content they consume. Personally, I believe that both good and bad values can be imbibed from the type of movies and TV shows a person watches. I feel this way for two reasons which I will explore in the following essay.
To begin with, watching movies and TV shows which portray good family values, harmony among people and in the society have a positive effect. They inspire a person to do good in life and instil values of sympathy, empathy, honesty and motivate them to achieve their goals. My personal experience is a compelling example of this. Watching shows like The Modern Family and Friends has made me realize the importance of family and friends in life. These shows make me feel that no matter what conflicts or difficulties one faces in their life, friends and family will always be there for each other no matter what.
On the contrary, violent shows can draw out unusual behaviour or might disturb a person's mental peace. Continuous consumption of violent content might make a person aggressive. It could make one feel like violence is the answer to all their problems and even a small conflict might result in huge fights or brawls. Even though there are regulations for TV and movies while being broadcasted but illegal downloading of such content is not an unknown fact. Such violent content ending up in the wrong hands like a teenager could result in adverse personality disorders from a young age. For instance, a teenager watching movies that have too much violence and extreme bloodshed all the time could lead him/her to have psychological problems.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that it is up to the person to choose what type of movies and TV shows they watch and what values they learn from it because as the saying goes, there are two sides to a coin, one good, the other bad.
