We can solve this question using matching operations (my favorite Quantitative Comparison strategy)
Given:
Quantity A: 2x + 3y
Quantity B: 3x + 4y
Subtract 2x from both quantities:
Quantity A: 3y
Quantity B: x + 4y
Subtract 3y from both quantities:
Quantity A: 0
Quantity B: x + y
If x and y are both positive, then Quantity B is greater
If x and y are both negative, then Quantity A is greater
Answer: D
