A) x = 2 and y = 3
B) x = 2 and y =/= 3
C) x = 0 and y = 0
D) x = -2 and y = 3
E) x = -2 and y =/= 3

The official answer is E; X = -2 and Y =/=3

But I do not understand why it cannot be D as well: X = -2 and Y = 3

(-2) + 2 / (3) -3 = 0 ; why is this not valid?

(I am sorry, I do not have enough of a reputation to paste an image of the question, which would make reading this question so much easier)

At the moment, the equation x+2/y-3 = 0 can be interpreted in many different ways.
For example: (x+2)/y - 3 = 0
or x + (2/y) - 3 = 0
or (x + 2)/(y - 3) = 0
or x + 2/(y - 3) = 0
etc

You can avoid a lot of ambiguity by adding some spaces and/or parentheses.
