Chris gave Jane x cards.
Chris gave Betty one card more than he gave Jane
So, x + 1 = number of cards Chris gave Betty
Chris gave Paul two cards fewer than he gave Betty
So, x + 1 - 2 = number of cards Chris gave Paul
Simplify: x - 1 = number of cards Chris gave Paul
In terms of x, how many cards did Chris give Betty, Jane & Paul altogether?
TOTAL cards given = x + (x + 1) + (x - 1)
= 3x
Answer: B
