It helps to ask yourself: What does this fraction imply?

There are 51,000 chips altogether
There are 17 defective chips altogether.
Conclusion #1: 51000/17 of the chips are defective. What does this mean? It means: out of every 17 chips, 51000 are defective. This makes no sense.
Conclusion #2: 17/51000 of the chips are defective. What does this mean? It means: out of every 51000 chips, 17 are defective. This makes sense.

In this question, we have 4 different types of chips. s1, s2, s3, and s4.
Any kind has a different ratio of defective chips to working chips.
For example, s1 has 2 defective chips for every 5,000 chips.
So out of 60,000 chips, 24 will be defective.
In other words, the amount of defective chips will be different for every type.

GreenlightTestPrep For your answer, you distributed the new shipment of the chips to be equal to the distribution of the original shipment. Why did you decide to do it?
