Set S = {2, 3, 5, 2, 11, 1} [#permalink]
We can start by first noting the number that is the mode in that set. This is two and doubling it will give 4, the new mode and the value of Column B. We can then calculate the mean of the set using the basic (sum of numbers divided by number of numbers) formula: this would give 4, the value of column A.

Thus, once we have column A as 4 and column B as 4, the answer is C.

Given that Set \(S = {2, 3, 5, 2, 11, 1}\)

Quantity A: The average of Set S

Average = \(\frac{Sum Of All The Numbers In The Set }{ Total Number Of Numbers In The Set}\)
= \(\frac{2+3+5+2+11+1}{6}\) = \(\frac{24}{6}\) = 4

Quantity B: The mode of Set S if every number in the set were doubled

Theory: If all the numbers in the set are doubled, the model will also get doubled

Mode of Set S is 2 (because: Mode is the number which has occurred the maximum number of times in the set)

=> Mode of the set if all numbers were doubled will be 2*2 = 4

Clearly, Quantity A = Quantity B

So, Answer will be C
