If we let x = the width of the box, then...
x = the length of the box (since the box has a square bottom)
2x = the height of the box
So we have something like this:
Volume of a box = (length)(width)(height)
Since we're told volume of the box is 54, we can write: 54 = (x)(x)(2x)
Simplify: 54 = 2x³
Divide both sides of the equation by 2 to get: 27 = x³
Solve: x = 3
We already stated that 2x = the height of the box.
Plug in x = 3 to get: 2(3) = 6 = the height of the box
Answer: 6
