Lee worked 22 hours this week and made $132. If she works 15 hours next week at the same pay rate, how much will she make?
A. $57 B. $90 C. $104 D. $112 E. $122
Since Lee's salary is proportional to the number of hours worked, we can solve this question using equivalent ratios.
We'll express the ratios in the form hours/salary
Let x = the salary corresponding to 15 hours of work.
So, we can write: 22/132 = 15/x
Cross multiply to get: 22x = (15)(132) Divide both sides of the equation by 2 to get: 11x = (15)(66) Divide both sides of the equation by 11 to get: x = (15)(6) = 90
