I did it as follows.
Total number of flowers 12
The total group of 3 flowers is 4. (3 blue flowers, 3 red flowers, 3 green flowers, and 3 pink flowers)
Assuming the florist will pick is Blue (It can be any color. I like blue
)
Therefore,
The probability of getting 1st blue is 3/12 = 1/4
The probability of getting 2nd blue is 2/11
The probability of getting 3rd blue is 1/10
Multiplying all of them together 1/4
X 2/11
X 1/10 = 1/220
Now, as mentioned earlier, it can be any color group. And we know there are 4 total groups of 3 same colored flowers. The probability for each color will be the same. So we can multiply the entire fraction by 4. So the result is (1/220)
X 4 = 1/55. (Option B).
A bit time consuming but I did it this way.
