Strategy: When I see a Quantitative Comparison question featuring only variables and constants, I immediately ask myself, "Are there any obvious values for the variables that will make the two quantities equal?"
In this case, we can see that, if x = 0 and y = 0, then Quantity A = Quantity B
At this point, the correct answer is either C or D. Now let's test another pair of values...
If x = 1 and y = 1, then Quantity A ≠ Quantity B
Answer: D
