The set is 1 3 5 7 11 X. Then, we know that X is such that the median is one minus the mode of the set. My strategy is to do an easy substitution and check which of the choice is ok
- X = 3: median is 3+5/2 = 4 while the mode is 3, then the median is larger than the mode -> NO
- X = 5: median is 5+5/2 = 5 while the mode is 5, then the median is equal to the mode -> NO
- X = 6: median is 5+6/2 = 5.5. while the mode is whatever element of the set -> NO
- X = 7: median is 7+5/2 = 6 while the mode is 7. Then the median is one minus the mode. -> ANSWER D!
- X = 3: median is 3+5/2 = 4 while the mode is 3, then the median is larger than the mode -> NO
- X = 5: median is 5+5/2 = 5 while the mode is 5, then the median is equal to the mode -> NO
- X = 6: median is 5+6/2 = 5.5. while the mode is whatever element of the set -> NO
- X = 7: median is 7+5/2 = 6 while the mode is 7. Then the median is one minus the mode. -> ANSWER D!

how to calculate the mode for this set?can someone pleAse explain.thanks in advance.
