A square with a perimeter of 24 must have a side length of 6 as all sides of a square are equal and 24/4=6.
The longer side of a rectangle with a perimeter of 24 must be greater than 6, otherwise it would be a square.
For example, the longer side could be 7 and the shorter side 5, as 7(2)+5(2)=24.
Likewise, 10(2)+2(2)=24.
Thus, the length of the longer side of a rectangle with a perimeter equal of that of a square must be longer than the square's side length.
