Given: x² + 5x − 14 = 0,
Factor: (x + 7)(x - 2) = 0
We can conclude that EITHER x + 7 = 0 OR x - 2 = 0
If x + 7 = 0, then x = -7
If x - 2 = 0, then x = 2
We have two different solutions, but the question asks for the POSITIVE solution, which is 2
Answer: D
