Q1. Total towels imported from all over the world in million of dozens = 68 Total towels imported from china in millions of dozens = 46 Total towels imported from countries other than china = 68 - 46 = 22*12 = 264 million (B)
Q2. Total number of towels imported for the first 9 month from china = 43 total number of towels imported = avg*no of months = 43 (where no of months =9) total number of towels imported = 43/9*12 (where no of months =12)= 57.3 approximately 57 (A)
Q3. In 1999 total number of towels imported from china = 54 total number of towels imported from all countries = 76 total number of towels imported from countries other than china = 76-54 = 22 ratio of china imports/no-china imports = 54/22 = 2.45 closest to 2.45 = 5/2 (c)

In Q2 Correct me if I'm wrong total number of towels imported = avg*no of months = 43 ==> 43/9*12 is THE AVERAGE OF 9 MONTHS but NOT THE TOTAL NUMBER ???

In Q2 Correct me if I'm wrong total number of towels imported = avg*no of months = 43 ==> 43/9*12 is THE AVERAGE OF 9 MONTHS but NOT THE TOTAL NUMBER ???
Here 43 million is the total number of towels imported for 9 months when we divide that by 9 we get the avg for 1 month and when the result is multiplied by 12 we get the total for the full year.

Then don't we have to multiply another 12 since 43 is the million dozens?

No we don't have to. If we multiply it again by 12 we get the total number of towels imported for 12 yrs provided avg is the same. This is not something the question is asking for.

Hi, 43/9 gives monthly average for 9 months.
43/9 = 4.7
Since the question says 9 months average is he same as the 3 months average: 4.7 = x/3 x = 4.7 * 3 × = 14.1 where x is the total China imports for 3 months.
Total 12 months imports from China = 9 months + 3 months total: Total = 43 + 14.1 Total = 57 (approximately) A.

Carcass would you please clarify the 'In 1998, how many of the imported towels were not imported from China?'? Shouldn't the answer be 68*12 million? Currently, the difference between the two types has been taken. If that was what was sought, shouldn't the question be phrased differently? Say, How many more towels were not imported from china or something to that effect?
