The blank should be 'overtake'. The synonymous of 'overtake' in the answer choices are 'overtake' and 'outstrip'

Collide does not make sense here, both logically and grammatically. Can someone explain the logic behind "collide"?

The answers here are C and F: overtake and outstrip, which are synonyms.

Collide is out of scope.

Your goal is to pick the right answers and dismiss the wrong ones NOT to understand why are they clearly wrong.

Is a waste of time during the test.

I chose C and F, but someone else said "collide" was correct. I was trying to figure out what memo I missed. Thanks.

Here, the sense is to surpass another car, not to hit the other car.
