Hello All, please can you spear some minutes to help constructively criticize my answer to this analytical writing response? Appreciation in advance.
"As people rely more and more on technology to solve problems, the ability of humans to think for themselves will surely deteriorate.
Discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position".
Answer:
For end users, technology of course causes deterioration of human thinking ability. This is because end users often depend on it for ease of tasks and time saving without taking notice of the fact that it indirectly takes up their ability to think for themselves.
More so that the approach to it in this dispensation is that of “use it or lose it”. Users especially youths almost cannot perform any task to a logical conclusion without technology, and where there is no availability of technology such as calculators, laptops, smartphones among others, users find it difficult to perform tasks or operations because they cannot properly think for themselves due to constant use of and high dependency on technology. Imagine what happens to an average executive who loses his or her smartphone or I-pad, the first common reaction is that of loss of concentration because he or she will first think of all the tasks the device performs for him: his reminders, organizers, how he will make his next presentation without his I-pad etc.
However, the reverse is the case with Computer Scientists such as software developers and programmers because they apply their high level thinking ability to develop applications and software for end users. Meanwhile, for some technology end-users such as medical doctors, technology will not deteriorate their thinking ability but enhances it. This is evidence in the fact they employ technology for real time access to information to diagnose and treat their patients. Their exploration of technology for such diagnosis and treatment helps to enhance their thinking of what the problems are with the patients and what solutions are available to the problems. Natural thinking of what the problem is with a patient and what solution is available to solving the problem may not be effective without some introduction of technology.
Therefore, in my opinion, the statement “as people rely more and more on technology to solve problems, the ability of humans to think for themselves will surely deteriorate” will not hold for all cases as explained above.
