Before counter B was opened, there were 6 people waiting at each of counter A and counter B, and Rahul was waiting in line at counter A with 8 people behind him.
After some people from counter A went to counter B and a new person joined counter B, the number of people waiting at each counter became 6. This means that 2 people from counter A (8 - 6) went to counter B, along with the new person who joined counter B.
Since Rahul was already waiting in line at counter A, and 2 people from counter A went to counter B, the number of people in front of Rahul before counter B was opened would be 2.
So the correct answer is 2.
