The answer is B since other choices undermine the argument by stating some detail about specialization touched on by the passage.

This one was very difficult for me. Any explanation for each answer? I felt C was correct.

EXCEPT question are tricky. Not only you have to look at what the argument asks you, in this case weaken the argument, but also you have to find the opposite answer which is correct. Basically, two steps

Now, the stimulus tells us , basically, that the preparation we should provide to the new workes, who studies to enter the job market should have a broad preparation and NOT a specialized one.

You have to weaken this argument among the choices and find those they are correct. Turns out, they are wrong.

You have to find the answer which will not weaken the argument or that is neutral.

A) Many of the world's problems can he solved only by highly specialized experts working on specific problems.

Weaken. So is wrong

B) Relatively few generalists are needed to coordinate the work of the many specialists.

We do not need coordination we do need who WORKS. This option does not anything to attack the argument above. Correct

C) Specialization does not necessarily entail losing the ability to see the broad picture.

They see the broad picture. So they can be also good for both spectra. Wrong

D) Increasingly complex problems require a growing level of technical expertise that can be acquired only through specialization.

Wrong

E) Even the traditional liberal education is becoming more highly specialized today.

Wrong

Hope this helps

so, the question asks to "weaken" but "Except" which means we're looking for a neutral answer which is "irrelevant" and "unharmful" to the question?

All the answer choices above weaken the argument but one. The except.

You are correct

This was a tricky one. I think I got caught up trying to identify an argument that strengthened the argument.
Good to keep in mind that "not weaken" can also mean something that is neutral/ does not affect the argument much

But I kind of think answer can also be E.

E says even the traditional liberal education is becoming Specialized. So it's all the more important that schools emphasize on the Broad education. E is actually strengthening the argument

Option B - I feel it's weakening the argument. It says only few generalists are required to manage Many specialists => may be generalists are not so much required.

Can someone clarify?

Please refer to my explanation above on why E can not be the answer https://gre.myprepclub.com/forum/the-curre ... tml#p44603
