The explantion above provided by the tutor and expert by Magoosh is a perfect fit.

There no compromise in the answer choices: or positive or negative.

However, the second part of the sentence tells us that the interior was disappointing. That means the facade was good or shiny or in perfect condition or something like that.

Put you in front of the house you would like to buy: the decade was awesome and then you expect the interior is even better. Then you are inside and the house is a mess so , of course, you are even MORE disappointed because you thought very different

Only A and C are positive words but A means kitsch, extravagant.

Even though I do not know the meaning of August (the only word reminds me with this name is the 8th month of the year - vacation) must be the answer.

August= prestigious.

The facade of the house was (i) ______, making the interior [#permalink]
Questions created by these tutoring institutes are not really perfect and lack the mathematical precision of GRE questions.

My understanding is "Outward appearance itself look bad and makes the interior much more disappointing"

The facade of the house was (i) ______, making the interior even more disappointing to prospective buyers.
I believe ostentatious can also fit here. All the more because the facade masks the bad situation in the interior of the house, exactly a context that we can use the word ostentatious.
